1、 Standards and Scope of Application
Standard definition
ASME SA210 (corresponding to ASTM A210) is designed specifically for boilers, superheaters, and heat exchangers, covering small wall thickness seamless medium carbon steel pipes, suitable for pressure bearing components such as water-cooled walls, economizers, superheaters, etc.
Applicable scenarios
Power industry: High pressure boiler heating surface pipelines, steam transmission systems.
Petrochemical/chemical equipment: high-temperature oil and gas pipelines, heat exchangers.
Long term temperature resistance upper limit: 482 ℃ (related to the high temperature stability of medium carbon steel).
2、 Material and Performance
Chemical composition
Brand difference:
A-1 level: carbon content ≤ 0.27%, manganese 0.29-0.93%, emphasizing strength and high temperature resistance.
Grade C: Carbon ≤ 0.35%, manganese 0.29-1.06%, with improved creep resistance through higher manganese content.
Impurity control: Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035%, sulfur (S) ≤ 0.035%, reduce brittleness tendency.
Mechanical properties
Tensile strength: A-1 grade ≥ 325MPa, C grade ≥ 350MPa.
Yield strength: A-1 grade ≥ 180MPa, C grade ≥ 205MPa.
Elongation rate: ≥ 30% (A-1 level) to ≥ 34% (C level), suitable for thermal stress deformation.
3、 Manufacturing and Testing
Production process
Adopting hot rolling/cold drawing seamless forming process to ensure wall thickness uniformity (tolerance ± 0.10mm) and surface smoothness (Ra ≤ 0.8 μ m).
Heat treatment optimizes grain structure and improves high-temperature creep resistance by 35.
Quality control
Inspection one by one: water pressure test to verify pressure bearing capacity, ultrasonic flaw detection to identify internal defects.
The dimensional tolerance complies with ASME standards, with an outer diameter range covering 1/2 inch to 7 inches (12.7-177.8mm).
4、 Selection and application suggestions
Selection criteria
Temperature/pressure matching: Class C (SA210C) is suitable for working conditions with higher pressure and frequent temperature fluctuations.
Media compatibility: Corrosion resistance needs to be evaluated in sulfur-containing environments, and surface treatment may be necessary.
Typical application cases
Water wall tubes for electric boilers (wall thickness 4-8mm, outer diameter 38-76mm).
Petrochemical unit superheater pipeline (customized to size processing to meet complex layouts).
