1、 Product Overview

API 5L X56N seamless steel tube is a high-grade pipeline pipe in the API SPEC 5L standard, suitable for acidic oil and gas field environments containing hydrogen sulfide (H ₂ S). It has high strength, corrosion resistance, and sulfide stress cracking (SSC) resistance, and is commonly used in high-pressure oil and gas transmission pipelines and chemical equipment.

2、 Core parameters

Execution standards

Compliant with API SPEC 5L specification, supporting PSL1 (basic requirements) and PSL2 (enhanced requirements) levels. PSL2 has stricter requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties, and non-destructive testing.

Chemical composition (mass fraction%)

Typical composition range: carbon (C) ≤ 0.24, manganese (Mn) ≤ 1.65, sulfur (S) ≤ 0.015, phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.020; Add microalloying elements such as niobium, vanadium, and titanium to improve sulfur resistance.

Mechanical properties

PSL1: Yield strength ≥ 390 MPa, tensile strength ≥ 490 MPa.

PSL2: To meet higher toughness requirements, performance is usually improved through normalizing or tempering heat treatment.

3、 Manufacturing and Specifications

Production process

Formed using hot rolling or cold drawing processes, the delivery status includes hot rolling or heat treatment (such as normalizing, quenching), ensuring material uniformity and corrosion resistance.

Specification Range

Outer diameter: 21.3-1200mm, wall thickness: 2-130mm, length can be customized to 5.8-12 meters.

4、 Application Fields

Acidic oil and gas fields: suitable for oil and gas transmission pipelines containing H ₂ S and high CO ₂, requiring NACE MR0175 standard certification.

High pressure transmission: used for long-distance, large-diameter oil and gas trunk lines, supporting double-sided submerged arc welding or seamless connection processes.

Anti corrosion requirements: Optional 3PE, FBE coating or dual hydrogen sulfide treatment can be used to extend the service life of the pipeline.
